While playing the game, your actions effect how the crowd responds to you. Get them on your side and you get more bonuses at the end of the match. Make them upset with you, you get less. There are lots of little things that affect the crowd’s response, such as whether you are facing an enemy, whether you hit your attacks or miss, if you’re hitting allies vs enemies, and how long you’ve been using a certain weapon to name a few. This is a neat mechanic, but it can work against you as easily as it works for you. See the first point of CONS below
