CHRISTMAS MASSACRE is an 80’s inspired stealth slasher game with low-poly, PS1-style graphics. Sneak, stalk and murder your prey without being caught. You must kill without being seen to complete each level. The combat feels messy at first, but once you grasp the hitbox positioning from the weapon’s blade instead of in front of the player,
it makes much more sense and even becomes satisfying. Scoring and ranking system would consistently give me the grade I felt like I deserved after completing a level; you can tell PuppetCombo has spent time tinkering each level’s scoring requirements for this balance. The game is short as I’m sure you can tell, however if you know what you’re getting in for I find the price completely fair. It works out as less than paying for a movie of the same length, which I would argue is a lesser experience.
I played through Christmas Massacre twice so far, one time for the crazy eerie story and one time for a complete S rank speedrun. I did succeed in getting all of the achievements, including the most challenging one (full S rank completion). Puppet Combo will always be my favorite indie dev forever because he continues to deliver very well made games with the perfect atmosphere that many horror games don’t have before the club mission,
Larry briefly walks through a creepy and dark looking city that reminds me so much of my favorite Puppet Combo game, Night Ripper. The urban city gives off this 80s dirty, gross city of sin. It just sets the mood for what comes next, the club massacre. Two thumbs up from me on another amazing Puppet Combo game. I will also say that the soundtrack is some of the best pieces of music I have ever heard.
