A League of Legends Story. The “Runner” series has been one of my faves since 2011, loading up bit. trip RUNNER on my Wii as a kid. 10 years laters, the devs get contracted by Rito to make this. Whatever your stance on Riot Games, this is a VERY solid Rhythm game. More than enough complexity and content for mad people who want to perfect every stage while also having a decent difficulty curve throughout the main plot. Cheap and good!
Furthermore, you have a book in which you keep a record of every crewmate’s death and disappearance. It also contains an artist’s rendition of the face of every crewmember and a list of the crewmember’s names, their occupation and their nationality. Your task is to assign a fate to everyone aboard the ship by using the 3D stills the pocketwatch provides you with. Some people’s fates are easier to determine than others, and the game will rely heavily on your deductive reasoning skills, since you’ll have to draw conclusions by narrowing down possibilities.
Although sometimes conclusions based on guesswork and incomplete information were required too. The game’s geometry, particles and fonts are rendered in a beautiful 2-bit aesthetic that lets you easily oversee the ship’s environment. It’s not a problem for me, but if you are someone who can’t handle blood and/or gore, the artstyle also makes normally gruesome and upsetting deaths tolerable. The way explosions are rendered in the 3D stills is rad AF btw, so kudos to that, even though there are only 2 instances of it.
