Although it is a very clunky game and has some weird interactions, it is very addictive. The satisfaction you get from completing missions is unmatched. Crafting and gathering is fun. There is always something to do and new stories to discover. I would say the NPCs do need better lines and behavioral codes because there are some very interesting characters and dynamics that I wish I could see more of. The fighting is pretty static and heavily relies on stats instead of skill which I guess makes sense in this type of game. I can’t recommend this game enough if you have time to kill and want to feel like you are doing something productive.
My Time at Portia is kind of a difficult game to review, because while I can’t recommend it, it’s not exactly a “bad” game per say. It attempts to be a 3D Stardew Valley-esq game, and for the most part is kind of succeeds. The problem with the game is that the negatives actively sabotage the mood and vibe of the game and lends itself to being a much less enjoyable experience. The first thing I have to point out is the game does not feel optimized. You’ll walk into an area and the screen will momentarily freeze while a cutscene cues up, or a momentary freeze while you’re in the mine before it loads up the markers telling you that a relic can be found. It’s a minor issue, but it does become annoying when you’re trying to become enthralled by this world.
