Overview Material Girl:

Material Girl parents used to give her only a little money for her living costs. Now they donât give her money anymore, so Sakura has no choice but to find a part-time job. She has to work part-time to earn money and meanwhile goes to school. All of her classmates think that Sakura doesnât like talks, and they donâ t know what she is thinking about at ordinary times. In fact, there is always a dream in Sakuraâs heart, that is, to get out of poverty and become rich. She has been striving to realize her dream all the time. Somehow the developers took the well-trod mechanics of a point and click mystery and spiffed them up into something that felt invitingly familiar and excitingly new at the same time through a lot of clever puzzles and organization systems. The puzzles were the right level of challenging and drove the story forward. Mysteries are very hard to write satisfying endings for, so I won’t ding them too hard for a less than stellar conclusion. The journey to it is 100% worth it.

A very lovely game that warmed my completionist heart! Quirky and consistently well executed art, music, sound design and voice acting. Every character and location felt distinct and fully realized. It was a pleasure to explore! Sally and Grimoire (your PCs) are charming and witty, but where a lot of writers go overboard with a three paragraph joke for every item, the writers here showed a lot of restraint–I never got tired of clicking around. The atmosphere transitions very well between locations and the art style is firm, not to mention the amazing bits of animation accompanying strong character designs. Here’s hoping there’s more in store for Detective Grimoire and Sally.
