Peglin plays like a combination of Peggle and Slay the Spire. The enemies are tough, and if you’re defeated your run is over, but you’ve got powerful orbs with special effects and incredible relics that influence both your enemies and the physics you’ll use to defeat them. Collect and upgrade powerful orbs and relics to defeat the monsters and bosses that stand in your way. Fight enemies with Pachinko-like gameplay – hit more pegs to do more damage. Use crit potions, refresh potions, and bombs wisely. Explore a new map every time, with different orbs, enemies, and surprises along the way.

Everything else about the game is mediocre. The movement and combat feels weird, it felt so bad that the first time around I couldn’t even play it for 1 hour before I decided I didn’t enjoy it and dropped the game until recently. After coming back it does improve over time, but the overall gameplay just feels kind of boring and uninspired. The saving grace here is that the game refuses to sit still on 1 mechanic, every map you go through will have very different mechanics. That made me want to keep seeing what is next and how they would try to push the owlboy mechanic further. The further you go the more fun it gets but getting to that point can feel really boring. Overall its serviceable and enjoyable but nothing I would want to replay.
