I’ve been one of the beta testers on ComPressure and while initially, the game seemed a bit difficult to get in to; but it is actually an intuitive but deeply engrossing puzzle game in the vein of one of my childhood favourites (Pipe Dream). With the dialogue from famous classical thinkers, the music, and the overall aesthetic design; it also comes together as an enjoyable (and genuine) industrial steampunk atmosphere, somewhat in the vein of Factorio.A Zach-like game, which has some novel systems compared to Zachtronics games. The game progression is interesting, where you need to improve designs in past levels and use them as components in other levels. Also, you are dealing with somewhat “analog” inputs, thus trying to “approximate” the output to the expected number.
It’s definitely not an easy game, as there were a few solutions that took me a good few minutes of scratching my head, but the solution is always simple, elegant, and logical in the end; not unnecessarily complex for the sake of complexity. The dev is also very active and open to suggestions and quickly implements improvements that make the game better to play. I also have not had any serious bugs nor crashes – the only bug I encountered was a minor instructional typo. For a game very early in its development, the game is quite good – solid concept and solid design. Highly recommended for people who enjoy games in the vein of Factorio or Automation (like me) where the central mechanic is optimising systems based on physics.
