The turn-based combat was.. crap. I doubt they’ll reinvest into this franchise again soon but I really hope they do and with the next iteration stay more true to the original. No turn-based combat, keep the cities and towns and campaign map the same as it always has been. Maybe expand a little on town development, expand on content allowing you to be a buccaneer or outright pirate who holds no quarter to no one.. ability to build up a ripe proper pirate town of your own…
I feel admittedly that PR4 has everything except the combat right, but deserved more love, more updates, and more expansions to further expand the content and features it already has. The turn based combat on a real time campaign map i think just let everyone down in the end. In the end, I’ll still recommend as it is still a fun game and I want to encourage further iterations in this franchise.a good trading sim and strategy game, just shy of brilliant. what hurts this game the most is how easy and cozy a title like Port Royale 3 is. this game is more complicated and it doesn’t do a particularly good job of helping you learn it. but it also a better game overall, that you can likely sink far more hours into than you ever could PR3.
