Have to give it a negative now. I used to like Silent assassin years back and had used GWX which made a big difference and improvement to the game, But since coming to steam and WIndows 10 the darn game won’t work. I tried researching etc. but no one has an answer to get the darn thing to work. After much fussing around I can load up a mission and play it fine but career campaign it crashes. This game does not work fully on WIndows 10 with GWX. A pity as this was the best WW2 sub sim but the program is atrocious to work with and no one has a clear answer like why a mission will play but campaign career won’t. Not recommended for WIndows 10 or a modern higher resolution monitor.
I got this game generally because of the movie ‘Das Boot’ 1981 followed by the sequel 2018 – 2022, which got me interested in the battle of the Atlantic between the German Kriegsmarine and Allied merchant Shipping. Combine this game with the GWX mod you’ll feel the vibes as like you were watching Das Boot again but in your own Submarine and story to tell as you’re the Captain of the ship afterall all.When I was little, I used to look over my father’s shoulder when he played it. I later played it myself. Today I played the game again and now 10 years later I can’t quite say if it’s nostalgic or not, but from my point of view it’s one, if not the best submarine game out there.
