What surprised me most about this game from the moment I started the opening and tutorial levels was how sublime the game felt to control. The movement, platforming, gunplay and just overall “gamefeel” was just incredibly polished and satisfying. This alone should be valued as an achievement that sets Soda Crisis apart as exceptional, since it’s something that even Triple-A developers very often fail to create in their games despite having production budgets that go up to 8 or 9 digits. Even the menus felt extremely responsive.

This is once again an element that should be praised, as it is far too common for menus in this day and age in videogames to be unresponsive due to things like long and fancy transition animations between menu screens or the game refusing to register your inputs until the menu transition is over. Because of the amazingly precise and responsive controls, your character is capable of incredible feats of mobility and movement zipping through levels once you’ve mastered the controls. There were very rarely any moments when I felt like I was wrestling with the controls.
