Coming at this as someone who didn’t play the first one and only has cursory knowledge of the franchise (watching streamers play Apex), so if you’re in the same boat, you’ll know what to expect. I suppose I’d have to describe Titanfall 2 as “Transformers meets Halo meets Battletech meets Mirror’s Edge”. Good lord, that’s an annoying way to describe it, so I’ll expound. The gameplay here first and foremost a first-person shooter. You pick up guns and you shoot dudes (and robots) with them. Secondarily, its a lightweight mech-piloting simulator, like a simplified version of the old Mechwarrior games. Lastly, it’s a game with some pretty wild movement mechanics and platforming sequences that have no right to be as smooth and fun as they are.
This game is now officially dead, but not because of it’s player bases negative opinion. The game was a parkour/shooter mix phenomenon with great multiplayer potential and a riveting campaign. It paved the road to Apex Legends as well by introducing its world and environment through the story of Rifleman Jack Cooper. He was a member of the Militia Forces and a true pilot in this fine vessel of a game. I wish Multiplayer was still available but alas the servers have been officially shut down as of 2021… I will miss you Titanfall 2 kraber edits .This campaign is just a mind blowing experience. It’s short but is such a tightly curated package that there’s essentially no filler. It’s a campaign that makes you want to play it again and again. Can’t believe I waited this long to give it a shot.
